We begin our day by collecting you from your Te Anau accommodation.  Relax in the company of your guide as you travel along the scenic Milford Road.

On arrival at Milford Sound, after a brief comfort stop we board the water taxi for a short ride across the fiord to access the Milford Track and our start point.

Landing at Sandfly Point you will hike with your attentive guide alongside the cascading Arthur River and moody Lake Ada. The early morning stillness allows us to see the bird life and discover the area in peace.  From the ancient canopy trees towering above to the emerald-green ferns below and the birdsong that echoes through the trees, it is a unique World Heritage Area best explored by foot. Our destination and half way point, is the impressive Giant Gate  This spectacular waterfall is best viewed from the large swing bridge spanning the river.

On completion of the walk choose to enjoy Milford Sound’s awe-inspiring scenery from the comfort of a boat cruise (additional charge). With purpose-built observation lounges and large decks, you can be sure you will get some great viewing opportunities. You’ll see the geological drama of sheer cliffs, massive waterfalls, glaciers and rainforest. Keep a look out for wildlife like seals basking on the rocks or dolphins. During the cruise, friendly crew provide commentaries and point out the sights such as Mitre Peak and the Pembroke Glacier. After the boat cruise we return you to your Te Anau accommodation.

Alternatively you can explore Milford Sound from the shoreline with your guide, then retrace your steps back to Te Anau.  Scenic and photographic stops can be made along the way as requested, as there is plenty to see.  The day is yours, your knowledgeable guide will tailor the return to your motivations before dropping you off at your Te Anau accommodation.

Fiordland: Natures heartland

Thank you for making our Fiordland experience such a great family adventure.
You have transformed our image of New Zealand with the variety of walks, helicopter, cruises and local insights you brought together so beautifully over 3 days.
We have a special debt of gratitude to our guide, Michelle, for inspiring our daughters to get the most out of their two half day walks on Kepler and Milford tracks.
Our parents are showing friends the Fiordland helicopter DVD production that reminds them of their exciting Helicopter sight seeing with lunch at Luxmore cabin.
We now tell everyone to visit you in Te Anau as the gateway to the Fiordland. It is more than a national park, it is natures heartland in New Zealand.
