An iconic luxury lodge located along the shores of Lake Te Anau, the lodge is built on a stunning rural site with enormous lake and mountain views.

The latticework of huge log trusses and stone fireplace adds character and interest inside, with all rooms having commanding views. Dining here is gourmet and an experience in itself – don’t miss the wild Fiordland venison tartare or Stewart Island salmon fillet for a meal to remember. This Lodge comes complete with outdoor hot tubs which are perfect for relaxing after a day walking on the local tracks and is an experience not to be missed.

Imagine staying in your very own luxury, wool-insulated Yurt, located in a private Fiordland meadow above Lake Te Anau. From the sculptures to the French linen, mood lighting and Italian-inspired ensuite, this is high-end glamping at its best.

It is a perfect and very unique option for a romantic weekend away, with free access to two mountain bikes, complimentary breakfast and BBQ facilities.

Recent finalists in the 100% Pure New Zealand awards, Radfords on the Lake offers luxury lakefront rooms combined with awesome Southern warmth and hospitality, or manaakitanga. Mum and daughter owners, Kerri and Shelley, make you feel right at home from the moment you check in.

It’s a great choice to be closer to town and at a brilliant price point, too. Be sure to take a stroll along the lakefront (literally right off your balcony!) and look out for their super friendly Birman cat, Dexter Dude. He’s quite the Te Anau celebrity nowadays.

How about forgoing accommodation on land altogether and opting to be lulled to sleep on the waters of either Doubtful Sound or Milford Sound?
An Overnight Cruise with Real Journeys is the perfect way to fully immerse yourself in the Fiordland experience. You can easily add it onto your Great Walks adventure with us, too, to explore this jaw-dropping region by boat and foot.

You’ll explore the nooks and crannies of Doubtful Sound or see the mountainous Milford Sound right from the base, thanks to the kayaking and tender craft options, then refuel with the onboard chef’s delicious dinner and breakfast buffets. Twin, double or quad share cabins are available to accommodate everyone of all ages and comfort levels.

Not quite sure about sleeping on the boat, but definitely keen to soak in the wildlife and scenery offshore? Consider adding a daytime cruise component to your Milford Track exploration with us.

Regardless of which walking excursion you choose to do with us at Trips & Tramps (or perhaps a taste of 3 Great Walks in Fiordland), rest assured that any of these places to stay will add a unique layer of beautiful memories to your Fiordland holiday.
