Exploring Fiordland National Park on our Exclusive Kepler Track Experience will definitely be a highlight of your trip. From magnificent, expansive lakes to tussock covered ridgelines, and majestic mountains, this natural wonderland is yours to discover by foot and by air – all in one day.
The Kepler Mountains in Fiordland National Park form a 12,000-ha peninsula between Lakes Te Anau and Manapouri.

From the minute you are picked up at your Te Anau accommodation, you can leave all the planning and logistics to us.
It’s not every day you are whisked away for a scenic helicopter tour, so we take every precaution to make sure your experience with us goes beyond your expectations.
Take off from our scenic base on Lake Te Anau and fly over stunning silver beech forest and hidden lakes to land at Luxmore Hut on the Kepler Track. From this Department of Conservation Hut explore the alpine tussock fields and enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding Fiordland mountains.
Ascend to the to the summit of Mt Luxmore, or as far as you feel with your private guide. The walking distance is 6 kilometres, with a total elevation gain and fall of 400 metres.
Your local Trips & Tramps guide will provide an opportunity to learn about the natural and human heritage of Fiordland with plenty of stops for photographs, birdwatching and interpretation along the way.
The track is well-formed and offers an awesome hiking excursion, whatever your fitness and experience level.
On completion of your guided walk and lunch we will be met again by the helicopter to enjoy a scenic flight over the Kepler Mountains. Landing on a remote mountain top, enjoy commanding views of Lakes Te Anau and Manapouri, as well as aspects of the Kepler Track.

Meals
A picnic lunch, including reusable water bottle and refreshments are provided. If you have any dietary requirements please let us know prior to the day of travel so we can cater for these.
Schedule
10.00 am Te Anau accommodation pick up
10.30 am Lift off for your helicopter flight to Luxmore Hut
10.45 am Drop off at Luxmore Hut, and hike along the Kepler Track towards the summit of Mt Luxmore
12.45 pm Enjoy lake, tussock and panoramic views of Fiordland National Park. We will have lunch along the way or on our return to Luxmore hut
2.00 pm Complete hike at Luxmore Hut
2.15 pm Take off for your scenic helicopter flight over the Kepler Mountains with a scenic landing in a remote alpine setting.
3.00 pm Return to your accommodation
Note, we may choose to swap the scenic flight to the first activity if weather and operating conditions require.
What to bring
There are some things we recommend you bring to make your day more enjoyable, please use this as a guide and if you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask. We have jackets, packs and walking poles available to borrow, so please let us know if these are required. We recommend you bring comfortable walking shoes, waterproof jacket, warm clothing including hat and gloves, sun screen and sun hat, camera, and personal medication if required.
We Provide
A professional private hiking guide, all transport from your Te Anau accommodation, helicopter drop off to Luxmore Hut, including scenic helicopter flight with remote landing, and fully guided walk on the Kepler Track, plus hot drinks, and a picnic lunch.
Helicopter time around 30 minutes, walking time around 2.5 hours.
This package is run in conjunction with a local Te Anau helicopter company.
