Jet Boating 

Experience the thrill of jet boating down the majestic Waiau.  This picturesque river is lined by ancient beech tree forest and features in the opening scene from The Lord of the Rings. This is true Middle Earth! Experience the excitement and adventure of the surging river, then enjoy the tranquil surroundings as you cruise on Lake Manapouri.

Hike the Famous Kepler Track

Lace up your walking shoes for some hiking! This 2.5 hour, 6 km guided nature walk follows a portion of the Kepler Track, a New Zealand Great Walk from Lake Manapouri to Rainbow Reach. Your friendly guide will share incredible insights and lead you along this wide, well maintained, mostly flat trail. Hike across sandy, tree lined beaches, peek inside an authentic 'kiwi' tramping hut, discover expansive wetlands, native forest and even a swing bridge, this is a great opportunity for everyone to discover a piece of real New Zealand!

Meals

We recommend you bring a filled, reusable bottle of water for the hike. There is an option to pre-order a picnic lunch at additional charge. If you have any dietary requirements please let us know prior to the day of travel so we can cater for these. Alternatively you can bring your own lunch and hiking snacks with you for the day. 

Schedule

9.30 am Te Anau accommodation pick up

9.45 am Meet at the Fiordland Jet Office

10.00 am Drop off Queens Reach to meet the jet boat

10.15 am Depart by jet boat on the Waiau River

11.30 am  Drop off Shallow Bay, Lake Manapouri

12.00 noon Hike to Motorau Hut for lunch

12.30 pm Hike along the Kepler Track to Rainbow Reach (6 km walk)

2.30 pm Arrive Rainbow Reach 

3.00 - 3.30 pm Return to your accommodation.

What to bring

Comfortable walking boots/shoes, waterproof jacket, warm clothing including thermal hat and gloves, sunhat, lunch (if not pre-ordered), water bottle, day pack and insect repellent. Jeans and street wear are not suitable clothing, please ensure guests wear suitable outdoor, activewear for the walks. Walking poles are optional, Trips & Tramps can be provided if requested.

We Provide

A professional guide, all transport from your Te Anau accommodation, jet boat ride, and fully guided walk on the Kepler Track.

This package is run in conjunction with Fiordland Jet.

Hike Difficulty

This is one of the easier guided walks we offer, and this walk is suitable for most people with a
low-moderate fitness level. The walk is 6 km /4 miles in length. Walking time is 2 to 2.5 hours. On occasion, wet weather and cold conditions can make conditions more challenging. We operate in most weather conditions, so you need to be suitably prepared. Clients who are not suitably prepared will not be allowed to participate.
