Your local, private guide will meet you at your Te Anau accommodation and ensure you have everything you will need for a great day out.  We provide a kiwi style ‘tramping’ picnic lunch, plus can lend any gear you may requireWeather can be a factor on this walk, so we will make sure you are adequately prepared for the conditions which may be encountered

Traveling along the Milford Road short scenic stops can be made as requested, that’s why a private trip is the best – we can tailor the day to meet your demands!

Arriving at the Lower Hollyford we make our way to the start of the track, crossing an expansive swing bridge to access the trail.  Your guide is a wealth of knowledge and if you have any special interests, whether it be birds, geography or photography they can cater for this to ensure a most memorable day out.

In places the trail can be rough underfoot and require some climbing, so you may choose to take it slow.  This is the beauty of choosing a private trip, you won’t be holding anyone up, so can just relax in the knowledge that the guide will be there for you and you can walk at your comfortable pace.

At the top alongside the lake, enjoy the magnificent hanging valley in all its gloryYour guide will find a private spot, so you can enjoy a total wilderness experience. Then your guide will escort you back to the car park, before retracing your travel back to Te Anau by vehicle.  Enjoy this ultimate day with individual attention – so you can get the best experience.

Difficulty

A reasonable level of fitness and walking ability is required due to the 400-metre ascent and descent.  The track is rocky underfoot and uneven in sections so care is required, walking time is 3 to 5 hours. Suitable for children 10 years and over. On occasion, wet weather and cold conditions in the alpine area may make conditions more challenging.  We operate in most weather conditions, so guests need to be suitably prepared.
